Yes, Another Pre-Mod
For some people out in the modding world, a "pre-mod" is just a bad word. I used to believe this myself, since a lot of manufacturers copy ideas from the modding community. They take these ideas and mass produce them and for far less money than the original. Was this all bad? I never really gave it much thought until I started to use some of this pre-mod equipment and I would say to myself "I could have done better," and tried to do so. I have come to the conclusion that sometimes time is a little more important to those who can't do what some of the custom pro modders can honestly do.
With the reviews I have done on pre-mods, I tried to show that there is always something to customize. My motto has always been,"You can't re-invent the wheel, but you can mod the hell out of it!" This review is no different, but I was really in for a challenge to do something different with a pre-mod window panel.
CrazyPC has been on the modding scene since 1999 and has grown steadily ever since they first started. They have hard to find, unique, and custom accessories to tailor to system builders and modders alike.
What crazy item have they supplied to PimpRig this time around? Their laser cut Inferno Window Panel for Lian-Li PC-6X or compatible cases. A very similar design to the X-Turbine Skull case, OK, it is the same design. CrazyPC was not too happy that the design was used on another product. One thing I can say about the two products is that they may look like the same design but they are in no way the same. Now I can show you why.
Mail Man
The delivery arrived in very good condition. I would hope the postal services would improve their delivery system to accommodate the plague of complaints.
Opening the box showed that CrazyPC packs very well. With double boxing their shipments, they ensure the product arriving intact. This is a big plus in my book and shows that CrazyPC cares about their customers orders arriving in pimp condition.
Ok, now this is even better than I would have imagined. The panel sits in foam inserts to support the panel. Being double boxed would have been good enough but this is going the extra mile, but there is more. The panel is wrapped in plastic with a protective film protecting the inside window. There is a small sheet of wax paper covering the center fan grill. This protects the glue that was applied from the assembly process sticking to anything, yes it's the gooey type.
