Intro
Today we will be looking at some products made by ACRyan. These guys are the new kid on the block, so let's see what they got to offer.
One day, this plain ordinary box came to my house via USPS. I wasn't really expecting any deliveries since I didn't order anything, so this box was really a mystery. After a closer look at it I became suspicious, since the address was from The Netherlands. Netherlands? Whaaaa? How often do you get a package outside of the US? Well, either way I didn't hesitate to open it and find out its contents.
Inside I found four A.C.Ryan products: Blackfire4 120mm UV-LED Lighted Fan, Xneon S-ATA cable, Backy rear external power system and MORF UV psu modding kit. The reviews for these items will be split up into two seperate articles to make it easier to follow. This review will feature the Xneon S-ATA cable and the Backy kit. You can find the reviews for the Blackfire fan and the MORF kit here.
A.C.Ryan Xneon S-ATA cable
Next item on the list is a S-ATA cable, manufactures part number ACR-SA6719. A pretty nifty idea I think, it's a S-ATA cable with some el-wire that's ran thought the middle of it, giving it a pretty glowing effect. I should also mention that besides the cable glowing from the EL-wire it's also UV reactive. Combining UV light and the EL-wire makes the cable glow a very nice soft shade of bloo. Not a fan of bloo? Well then you should be hit with a stick, j/k lol…actually this cable also comes in UV-red and green, with different lengths and connector shapes (straight or 90 degree).
Performance
I compared this cable with two other cables with HDTech and SiSoft Sandra benchmarks. One cable is a stock SATA cable that came with an Abit AN-7S mobo, and the other one is from VoyeurMods.com which is also UV reactive. As shown on the chart below, the A.C.Ryan S-ATA cable happened to be the slowest of them all; this is ok thought, since it's only slower by about 100kb - 200kb per second which is not really noticeable during use.
