Since the Phenom will run on AM2 will you (or do you) use an AM2 setup?
I already am on AM2 and plan to stay.
I was already planning to move to AM2.
I am moving to AM2 because it will support the Phenom.
I am waiting till the Phenom is out for a while but will consider it.

The Intro

Every now and again something innovative comes my way. This is the first really unique review I have done in some time. The company that sent PimpRig this review item is a new division of Waffer Technologies. Waffer Tech is a huge manufacturer of many parts using the molding process thixotoropy; this process has made Waffer Tech the largest manufacturer of molded parts for companies like Dell, Compaq, and Apple. There are many more to list but these are just the top three.

With the development of the following processes Waffer Tech is able to meet and exceed thermal issues from all possible angles, they excel in these processes and improve on them every chance they get. Copper/aluminum CNC machining, machine cutting, stacked fin technology, aluminum die-casting, magnesium thixo-molding, copper aluminum binding, and copper/aluminum surface treatment, most of these should sound familiar to those of you who understand heatsink processes. What does all this have to do with this review? With their ongoing experience in dealing with heat dissipation they branched off their usual direction and created a new division in Waffer Tech.

With this new thermal division of Waffer Tech or Waffer Thermal Division (WTD), they have developed an air conditioner for your PC. Do I have your curiosity piqued yet? It sure did mine, and with the motto for Waffer Technologies “Constant Innovation paves the way for success” I am pleased to show you the PC AirCon PAC 400.

So what is this “air conditioner” for a PC? The PC AirCon PAC 400 is designed to cool the inside of the case, lowering the internal temps to get maximum life out of a normal PC. The PAC 400 is based off of the TE (Thermoelectric) technology which provides advantages over traditional cooling methods. Sound like gibberish to you? The concept is to cool the PC as a whole not an individual component. Now let's see what an air conditioner for a PC looks like.

One Cool Package:

Score one for DHL, this box was looking like it was just put on the truck across the street and then dropped off here. The box looks like it was untouched, so shipping with DHL is a plus.

Opening this box was a mystery to me, I had no idea what to expect, I never heard of a PC air conditioner before so opening this up was fun for me. The contents inside were well packed with foam peanuts. The box is unmarked because I received one of the pre-production units.

The first view was indeed interesting, a clear fan on top with an LCD display. The box is well put together and effectively holds the Pac440 in place. This is a good sign of the thought that has gone into the product.

Definitely an interesting piece of equipment, this unit has 2 fans mounted on the front and slides into its own bay holder. The instruction manual is well printed and has the same information as the website instructions here.
