Intro

I've got to take my hat off to Ultra Products. First, they took a mundane power supply and turned it into a showpiece that you would want people to see hanging in your case. Now, they've taken another mundane product and turned it into another item you will want folks to see hanging in your case. Ultra has taken the knowledge they garnered by doing those amazing finishes on their power supplies and applied it to their line of case fans which they call Titanium.

Package

Ultra sent me four of their fan packages; a pack of 3 Blue 80mm, another pack of 3 Silver 80mm, a 120mm Green, and a Black 120mm. These are the four colors that the Titanium line offers, and all the colors look very sweet.

Included with the fan is a 3 pin to 4 pin adapter with a pass through connector. The front of the connector is a male 4 pin, the back side is a female 4 pin. The wires of both the fan and the 4 pin adapter are done in Silver instead of the usual Red-Black-Yellow which will make the wiring less noticeable inside your case. There is also a registration card that you send in to qualify for a monthly drawing for other Ultra products.

Specs

The back of each package has the fan specs, here they are:

80mm Titanium fans:

  • 80x80x25mm
  • Ball Bearing
  • DC 12V
  • Consumes 1.2W
  • 2000 RPM
  • 21.5 CFM
  • 20.3 dBA

120mm Titanium fans:

  • 120x120x25mm
  • Ball Bearing
  • DC 12V
  • Consumes 3.6W
  • 1800 RPM
  • 70.09 CFM
  • 34.25 dBA

The Fans

Here is a Silver and Blue 80mm, and as you see the finish is immaculate. The blades have a slight curve to them which reduces the noise of the air exiting from the end of the blades, which is where most of the noise generated from fans comes from. The 80mm fans are rated at 20.3 dBA which is almost silent, and when I powered them up I can attest to the fact that you can barely hear them. If they were inside of a case you wouldn't be able to hear them at all. However, the 21.5 CFM rating means it doesn't move a whole lot of air which makes it an unlikely candidate for a CPU cooling fan on a heatsink. The best use for these fans would be a case where you could mount several of them and still maintain a quiet environment.

These are the Green and Black 120mm fans, and again the finish is perfect on both of them. The blades on the 120mm fans utilize a turbine design, which again reduces the noise of the air leaving the end of the blades. Although the specs state that the 120mm Titanium fans have a 34.25 dBA rating, I believe that has to be way to high. My opinion is 30 dBA, tops. They emit a low hum which again you would not be able to hear if it was mounted inside of a case. The 70.09 CFM rating is definitely true and I was somewhat surprised as to the amount of air they actually push. These are the fans you want inside your case if you want to move a good amount of air and still maintain silence. Besides that, they look very pimp, indeed.

Conclusion

Both the 80mm and 120mm fans look very good, but it's the 120mm fan that is the better buy. The 80mm fan is a good option if you have several places where you could mount them, but the 120mm performs on par with many popular quiet fans that don't look nearly as good. As a whole, I award the Ultra Products Titanium line of case fans a 7.5 out of 10 and the PimpRig Approved award. The 80mm 3-pack of fans can be had from Ultra Products website for $29.99 USD and the 120mm single pack for 19.99.
