Introduction:

In the world of computer enthusiasts there exists a special breed of person. Not many exist now, but their numbers are growing every more rapidly. How can we spot a member of this species? Well you will know them by their irresistible urge to push CPU’s just one step further. They will go to great lengths to achieve these means, from strapping huge copper monstrosities onto a processor to submerging them in liquid nitrogen. What are these strange, insane beasts. Well, they are known only as OVERCLOCKERS.

For Overclockers, there comes a point where you standard and venerable air-cooling will no longer be sufficient to satisfy that drive and hunger for more computing power. At this point we start to look at the next logical step up. WATER-COOLING!

Now for most normal everyday people, the idea of taking water and putting it into a computer its an absolutely horrid idea. But with the high quality parts that are being produced now, it has become just about as safe as air cooling a CPU (albeit more complicated to setup though). To say the least Water-cooling has evolved far beyond the days of crackpot geniuses making custom water-cooled systems in their garage. Today we are looking at the latest and greatest offering from SharkaCorp and Innovatek, The Set5 Kit for Socket A and 370 Processors.

The Kit

Before we dive right into this kit, lets go over some of the basic features. I’m happy to say that the Set5 kit is pretty comprehensive, and will provide you with everything a beginning water-cooler might need.

- innovaCOOL rev3.0 CPU waterblock
- Waterblock mounting hardware.
- InnovaRADI Single Fan Heatercore with mounting hardware.
- 120MM Fan with chome grill
- One Eheim 1046 water pump (5L/min or 79 Gal/Hr)
- Black aluminum Filling tank / Reservoir
- One bottle of InnovaProtect Water Additive
- 6 ft of 8mm (5/16”) ID x 10mm(3/8”) OD PVC tubing
- One 3-to-4 Pin Molex Power Adaptor
- Misc Fitting and accessories ( wire ties, etc…)
- Installations instrucions (in German unfortunately, Sprekisi Deutsch? Though Sharka Corp has been nice enough to translate them on their website)

Also Provided by SharkaCorp

- Innovatek Graph-o-Matic GPU cooler for ATI Radeon.

Packaging

With the expense of most water-cooling kits, they had better arrive to the buyer in one piece. SharkaCorp does and wonderful job at this, with the perfect size box, and numerous amounts of packing peanuts. But wait there’s more! Innovatek’s packaging of the kit is by far the best packaging I have seen in any mail ordered computer component. The kit comes in a nice big box emblazoned with the Innovatek logo.

Inside you will find that each individual component is securely held in custom cut block of foam. Innovatek is taking no chances with this beauty.
