Since the Phenom will run on AM2 will you (or do you) use an AM2 setup?
I already am on AM2 and plan to stay.
I was already planning to move to AM2.
I am moving to AM2 because it will support the Phenom.
I am waiting till the Phenom is out for a while but will consider it.
I am an AMD Fanboy.
I am an Intel Fanboy.
I am not considering an AM2 setup at all.
I don't care as long as I can get my email.
Phenom-what? AM2 who?! Speak english man!

Intro

I had received a quart of this product I'd never heard of before called Fluid XP from the folks at Integrity PC. I wanted to find out some more information on this stuff, but all I could find at their site was a price list. So I did the natural thing and Googled for "Fluid XP" and this is what I found:

History:
Fluid XP+ was developed by a retired NASA scientist who engineered it from a de-icing formula which they used on aircraft and was later used on railroad switches. The first principal user of the formula in regards to computer cooling was Delphi who used it to cool their super computers. Later, the coolant was reformulated into Fluid XP+ for Integrity PC to test with liquid cooled high-end gaming PCs as well as business workstations and servers that require an effective cooling method to remove great amounts of heat while requiring low maintenance. Since Fluid XP was first released it has gone through various changes and now is better than ever. Integrity PC claims that it works quite well for their extreme systems and has other properties (shown below) that make it ideal for home use.

Properties:
- Environmentally Safe: Non-toxic, biodegradable, all FDA approved food grade ingredients.
- Long Lasting: 5+ year shelf life.
- Robust: Not prone to mechanical shearing (Pumping).
- Corrosive inhibiting: Neutral pH (pH of 7) and non-electrolytic; does not cause galvanic corrosion (if spilled in system, no need to clean between chips on board etc.) or rusting. Non-conductive.
- Versatile: Formula can be tailored for various viscosities and systems.

Uses:
The many uses of Fluid XP+ have not been explored entirely. However, it is ideal for computer cooling. If you are a gamer with an overclocked system and air cooling isn't doing the job, or a water cooled PC owner who is tired of changing the water constantly and is worried about frying your system, Fluid XP+ is just the thing you need. Maybe, a video editor who is constantly overheating their computer due to all the video being processed, or a person who has a business or game server that gets too hot, Fluid XP+ is what you’re looking for.

Testing

I put the Fluid XP to the test by using the multimeter and I got no signs of continuity. Not happy with a low voltage test I decided to up the anty. DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME!!! (PimpRig will not be held responsible when you burm down your house if you try this yourself). I took a power cord from an old PSU and plugged it in to a switched wall socket. Putting the end into a tupperware of Fluid XP, I threw the switch. Nothing, Nada, No sparks, no breaker kicking. I would say it passed the non conductive acid test just fine.

Now on to the cooling portion of the testing.

I will be using a BlackIce Xtreme ll, DangerDen 12V pump, TDX waterblock, Maze-4 Northbridge and GPU blocks, and a CompuNurse with a digital thermometer to take temps. Ambient temp was steady at 17.2C. With a coolant mix of distilled and 10% Zerex racing coolant I average a temp of 19.4C, consistently 2.2C over ambient temperature.

After flushing the system for 30mins with tap water and 2 gallons of distilled water, Fluid XP was added to the system. I used just under a quart so the reservoir had to be tipped up a bit. No problem, and I don't believe it changed the results any. Again with an ambient of 17.2c the fluid XP was right there with the distilled and Zerex with a temp of 20.2c, just 3.0c over ambient.

Conclusion

I would have to say that the claims that Fluid XP make check out just fine. If you are looking for a coolant that has an extremely long shelf life, is non-conductive, and are willing to give up a few degrees in coolant temp, then this is the stuff you need. It is available from Integrity PC for $49.99 a quart or $24.99 a quart if you buy it by the gallon. I give this product a 7.5 out of 10 pimp hats and declare it PimpRig Approved. It would have scored better if the cost wasn't so prohibitive.

Pro
- Non conductive
- Long time between coolant changes
- Non-corrosive

Con
- A slight rise in temperature
- Cost (water and Zerex is about 12 bux per gallon vs 100 bux)

PimpRig Rating //
(7.5 pimp hats)

I would like to thank the folks at Integrity PC for providing me the chance to look at this alternative coolant.
