Intro
Is that hot new game causing your hard drive to run on the warm side? Cooler Master may have a solution for you. After all, your hard drive is just like any other component in your computer... if you don't keep it cool it will give up the ghost sooner rather than later. Many of you have experienced a hard drive failure that has resulted in the loss of very important data. Not fun, is it? Keeping the temperature of your hard drive lower is no guarantee that it won't fail, but it will reduce the chances of it happening to you. To help you reduce the chances of failure, CoolerMaster has the CoolDrive Lite.
Package
Inside the box is the hard drive enclosure and a bag containing screws and a thermal pad.The enclosure is constructed almost entirely of aluminum with a 44mm blower fan and heatsink. If you are familiar with Cooler Master's line of hard drive enclosures you will find it very similar to its big brother, the CoolDrive 6, sans the fan speed and temperature monitoring capabilities. At the front is an attractive wire mesh grill that serves as the air intake.
On removing the bottom, which is also the mounting plate and heat sink for the hard drive, you'll find the housing containing the blower fan. Taking this apart reveals the tiny 44mm fan. The blower assembly does not direct air across the hard drive but rather across the fins of the heat sink.
