LAN parties are all the rage. At least, that's what the kids are saying anyway... Really though, LAN's are great, but it can be a literal pain in the back to get all your gear from your house to the party. Enter the Aspire X-QPACK mATX case. This case is aimed directly at the Antec Aria's (reviewed here) market share, and picking up where the Aria left off, has addressed many, if not all, of the concerns of Aria users. Let's see what Aspire has come up with.
Specs
Here are the specifications of this intriguing rig, courtesy of http://www.aspireusa.net:
- Compact, portable and tasteful design
- 3 x side see-through windows
- Front 2 x USB2.0, 2 x Audio, 1 x Firewire
- 1 x front LCD tempeture readout
- 1 x 120mm blue UV LED fan at rear

- ATX 420W 12V power supply
- Removable motherboard tray for easy installation
- Sturdy aluminum contructed for best cooling
Additional features I noticed on this case:
- Lightweight
- Mirror-finish on the power supply
- 60mm blue LED power supply fan
- Sleeved power supply cables
- built-in handle
The fit was great, and the finish, while not glossy, was very nicely done:
Packaging
The case was received without incident; the packaging was mostly intact, but there was a puncture in the cardboard on one side. When I opened the box, however, nothing was out of place; the case survived. Apparently, the packaging is adequate for "the gauntlet", also known as UPS.
Aspire included a baggie of screws to hold your gear in place, but no zip-ties for wire management. This kind of sucks since so much of the 'guts' are exposed through these large windows; it would have been nice to see some zip-ties included, but I'm splitting hairs now...
